Ned, Oene and Mark know each other for many many years, but the kickoff of their trio was their January 2026 tour in India, where they collaborated with Lakkshya and many other inspiring Indian artists. Naruto stands for shapeshifting musical adventure, deeply inspired by Indian, African and jazz traditions. In their interplay groove and a percussive approach are important elements and they can playfully interchange melodic and bass function roles. 

Ned McGowan is an American-Dutch composer, flutist, researcher and teacher, living in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Known for rhythmical vitality and technical virtuosity, his music has won many awards and been performed at Carnegie Hall, Concertgebouw, the Purcell Room and other halls and festivals around the world by many orchestras, ensembles and soloists. Violist Oene van Geel (1973) is a musical adventurer. Influenced by jazz, Indian music, chamber music and free improvisation, he uses his virtuoso improvisation skills and his talent for composition for a wide range of musical activities. He received the VPRO Boy Edgar Prize (2013), the Sena Performers Toonzetters Prize (2012, with Zapp4), the Kersjes Prize (2005, with Zapp4), the Deloitte Jazz Award (2002), the Dutch Jazz Competition (2001) and the Jur Music Prize Naessens Music Prize (2000).

The focus of guitarist Mark Tuinstra is wide, he loves jazz and free improv but also African and Indian music, and pop. This shows that Mark loves to play with others, only to PLAY; not restricted to any musical boundaries or conventions. This made him tour all over europe, Brazil, Guatemala, Turkey, Japan, Senegal, Egypt, jordan, beirut, Japan, South-Africa etc. In The Netherlands he played on festivals like Lowlands and the Musicmeeting and in numerous jazzvenues like the BIMhuis in Amsterdam. https://www.marktuinstra.com/
