Ever heard the contrabass flute?
I'm making a recording dedicated solely to this amazing instrument and need your help!
Dear friends,
As you might know, I've been playing the contrabass flute for 20 years and I believe the time is ripe for me to focus those experiences into a recording. The contrabass flute is a largely (ha-ha) unexplored instrument and my goal is to showcase the full range of its beautiful tones and playing possibilities into a exciting and great sounding musical experience.
There will be four works, starting with a monumental piece for 6 contrabass flutes - full on and saturated beauty. Further I will be joined by pianist Keiko Shichijo for the richly haunting 'Winter's Breath' by Adrienne Albert and also joined by B.C. Manjunath, playing Indian percussion for a virtuosic rhythmic duo. Lastly there will be a solo piece with live electronics.
I'm excited to be releasing this recording both on CD and vinyl LP because I very much believe in the experience of having a work of art that you hold in your hands. For those with turntables, the warmth of the contrabass flute is going to sound great on vinyl! For now we won't stream the recording so the only way to hear it is with the CD or LP. They will be brought out on Amsterdam's Karnatic Lab Records, famous for many ground breaking recordings.
To make this possible, I need your help to fund this recording. Please click the orange button to see the video on the Kickstarter page and consider making a donation.
Thanks, Ned
