SUMMARY:HyeKyung Lee’s Rustle at Adams Low Flutes Festival
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy flute ensemble Q-flutes (NL)\, a special piece played by Ned McGowan (contrabass flute and piano)\, and Let’s improvise by workshop participants with soloist Matthias Ziegler. \n\n\n\nQ-Flutes is a flute ensemble consisting of advanced students from Quintus in Kampen and is under the expert direction of Karen Snoei. \n\n\n\nNed McGowan is a composer\, flutist\, improviser\, and researcher renowned for his rhythmic vitality and technical virtuosity. His music has been performed at Carnegie Hall\, the Concertgebouw\, and at festivals around the world by leading orchestras\, ensembles\, and soloists. During this lunch concert\, he will play the work *Rustle* for contrabass flute and piano\, written by the Korean/American composer HyeKyung Lee. She will perform the piano part herself. \n\n\n\nParticipants in the two *Let’s Improvise* workshops will present the results under the direction of Sophie Dufeutrelle\, featuring Matthias Ziegler as soloist.

At the Adams Low Flutes Festival. \n\n\n\nRöhren is a trio of visionary flutist-composers: Anders Hagberg\, Ned McGowan\, and Tilmann Dehnhard. United by a fascination with the sonic extremes of the flute family\, the trio pushes the boundaries of the instrument through composition\, improvisation\, and sonic experimentation. The result is music that is thunderous\, playful\, beautiful and exploratory\, taking the flute to new dimensions. \n\n\n\nRESONANCES XXI is a collective of flautists led by conductor Olivier Guion. Driven by a desire to offer all audiences the opportunity to discover an atypical ensemble and an original repertoire\, and passionate about contemporary creation\, they collaborate with numerous composers\, soloists\, dancers\, actors\, and visual artists from all artistic backgrounds.
